Pastor Jon told me Sherman Methodist practiced placing a rock in a vase whenever your prayers are answered.  I decided to do this and have already filled almost three vases since the winter of last year.  Even when I was sick or disappointed, there was something to be thankful for.

Have you ever looked back on your prayer life and realized God knew what He was doing when He didn’t answer your prayer?  Perhaps you were hoping to buy that expensive house or shiny new car, go on an exotic vacation spot or buy that trendy outfit in the window.  Or you asked for a promotion requiring a move. Maybe you really wanted to marry that man you thought was the one.  Afterwards you begin to realize your request was not a good idea, maybe even a big mistake.

Whatever your request, God has your best interest in mine.  He will keep you in His care.  He will not allow anything to happen outside of His will for you.  Reflect on the following Bible verses:

James 4:3 ” When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

Psalm 121:7  “The Lord will keep you from all harm-he will watch over your life.”

Numbers 6:24  “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”

Even during dark times, God has your name written on the palms of His hands.  He will never leave nor forsake you.  He is intervening to provide you comfort, strength and peace of mind when you lean on Him.  He will see you through, no matter what. 

Isaiah 49:16 “See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. ..”

Deuteronomy 31: 6 “Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Continue to be thankful and joyful, praising His name!
