A Second Chance
Preface: This poem was written as a gift to my Dad at Christmas in 1989. Dad had suffered a heart attack on Memorial Day of that year. Dad recovered from his heart attack and bypass surgery and was blessed to be alive when my daughter was born in 1991. He was able to watch her grow taller every year. Dad died on this date, October 21, in 2004, at the age of 93.
A second chance at life
Makes all the world fresh
From the ordinary strife.
Time becomes precious
And joy is complete.
When the Lord sees fit
That we would not be beat
By the darkness of death.
We thank God
For borrowed time,
Granted extensions
For glorious purposes.
And blessings stored
For heavenly rewards.

Very good Barbara. The poem is beautiful. Thank you for bringing back memories.
